Thirty sheets hang on top of each other on the notice board and the most important one is covered. Whoever has to announce a room change hopes it gets seen. On a surface in the foyer it stands large, current and for everybody at once.
Hardly any organisation has as many short-notice changes as a school in the morning: sick notes, room swaps, moved lessons, cancelled courses. Paper always arrives too late for that.
Cover timetable
Today’s state, not yesterday’s
Absence in the morning, room swapped, lesson moved: the surface in the foyer shows it before the first class stands in front of an empty room.
Dates
Exams, trips, parents’ evening
Recurring dates you enter in advance; they appear automatically at the right moment and disappear again afterwards.
Canteen
The week’s menu
A printout nobody updates against a surface that shows what is on today — allergen labelling and price included.
Tidy
Instead of thirty sheets
A notice board never gets emptier, only fuller. Digitally content disappears automatically once its date has passed.
Foyer and hall
Large surfaces for many people
Where two hundred people move, information needs size. In foyers large diagonals or a video wall are worth it.
Several buildings
One system, every site
Maintain centrally, show differing content per building or faculty. For universities with several campuses that is the decisive point.
[ 02 ] In the building
Heavy traffic, little supervision.
School surfaces hang in areas with high footfall and without constant supervision. That sets requirements which play no role in an office.
Robust mounting at sufficient height, with a secured mount and concealed wiring.
Fire-safety compliant with commercial approval — this gets checked in public buildings.
Burn-in protection for timetables and tables that stand unchanged for hours.
Diagonal by viewing distance — in foyers with eight to ten metres, 85 inches or a wall is necessary.
For a standard setup we plan one to two weeks from your first message to live operation.
We look at the building
Foyer, entrances, canteen, admin corridor. Where do people stop, where are the viewing distances long?
The plans become layouts
We build templates for cover, dates and canteen: clear tables, large type, flags for changes.
Installation
Displays come from stock, our team mounts during holidays or outside teaching hours, with a secured mount.
Handover and operation
The office or administration maintains the content itself, which takes minutes. Monitoring keeps running on our side.
[ 04 ] Cost
What it costs.
You buy the displays once, the software runs as a monthly licence per display. The concrete quote follows the briefing — these figures give you the order of magnitude.
Can we pull the cover timetable from our software?
For standard cases we work with templates the office enters changes into. An automatic connection to timetable or cover software we assess case by case — tell us which system is in use.
How does procurement through the school authority work?
We provide a quote that can be submitted for budget and procurement processes, with separate items for hardware, installation and licence. For tenders we supply the technical details for the specification.
How many surfaces does a school need?
Usually two or three: one at the main entrance for cover and dates, one in the canteen, optionally one in the admin corridor. More surfaces add little as long as the main routes are covered.
Are the devices protected against damage?
We mount at sufficient height with a secured mount and concealed wiring. For particularly exposed areas there are enclosures with protective glass — we settle that at the site visit.
What about data protection with pupils’ names?
Names on cover timetables are a known issue. We recommend showing teachers by initials and classes without pupil names. The data-protection assessment is made by your school or the authority.
Can we keep our existing screens?
Often yes. The check costs nothing. If the devices are fit for continuous operation and fire safety we connect them.
Where should the surface go?
A photo of the foyer or main entrance is enough — then we will tell you which size makes sense and what it costs. For school authorities we prepare a quote for submission. Reply within two working days.
