Project and process

How long does a typical project take?
From briefing to commissioning we plan 1–2 weeks for standard installations. Bespoke builds with custom hardware take longer. After the first conversation you get a binding schedule.
Does someone come by before we order?
In Berlin yes, free of charge and without obligation. We measure viewing distances and light conditions, check mounting points, power supply and fire safety. Only after that is there a quote. Outside Berlin we start with photos and measurements.
Where does SCRN work?
We are a studio in Berlin. We install nationwide and across the DACH region — for larger projects internationally with local partners on site. More on the Digital signage Berlin page.
Who does the installation?
We work exclusively with specially trained installers who are qualified for both installation and later maintenance work.

Costs

What does an installation cost?
Displays from €599 one-off, a video wall of three panels from €1,699. On top of that comes the SCRN Cloud licence at €10 (Basic) or €15 (Premium) per display and month, each plus VAT. You will find worked examples on the Pricing page.
Why does everything say "from"?
Because the diagonal, the brightness required and the mounting situation determine the price. A 43-inch display on a plasterboard wall costs less than a 75-inch high-brightness panel on a concrete ceiling. After the on-site appointment you get a fixed figure.
Does this pay off compared with printed menus?
For a single venue with a rarely changing menu, not necessarily. As soon as you run promotions or have several locations the calculation tips quickly: otherwise every price change costs layout, printing and mounting — per branch.
Can we rent the displays?
For trade fairs and events yes, where renting usually makes more sense. For permanent installations we sell the hardware because it pays for itself after around two years.

Hardware

Why not a television from an electronics store?
A consumer television is built for a few hours a day. In continuous operation a standing menu burns in, the brightness is not enough in daylight, and there is no fire-safety approval for commercial mounting. Details under Hardware.
Are the displays readable in bright daylight?
Yes. For shop windows we use high-brightness panels from 1,500 cd/m² — considerably brighter than an ordinary television — so content stays clearly readable even in direct sunlight.
Which diagonal do I need?
That follows from the viewing distance. Above a counter at three metres you usually land at 50 to 55 inches; in a lobby at eight metres more like 85 inches or a wall. We work it out at the on-site appointment.
How long does a display last?
The panels are rated for 50,000 operating hours — close to ten years at fourteen hours a day. The manufacturer warranty is 36 months from the factory, and night mode measurably extends the lifetime.
Do you supply LED walls?
On request, yes. For most interiors and shop windows LCD panels are the right choice; LED pays off for genuinely seamless large surfaces or surfaces standing outdoors.

Software and content

Do you also handle ongoing content?
Yes. You can maintain content yourself in our CMS — or our motion team takes care of seasonal updates, campaign changes and new loops, monthly or quarterly depending on the package.
Do I need prior knowledge for the software?
No. Anyone who can drag a file into a folder can operate SCRN Cloud. At handover your team gets a walkthrough.
When do I need SCRN Premium?
As soon as several surfaces belong together: a video wall, an image band above the counter, a window front. Only Premium plays one video across several panels and keeps them in sync, and only Premium schedules to the minute rather than to the day.
Can we run several branches centrally?
Yes. You maintain one menu and publish it to all locations — or give individual branches their own promotions. Both in the same interface.

Operation and faults

What happens if a display fails?
Our monitoring reports failures in real time. For critical installations we are on site within 24 hours, for standard installations within 3 working days. Spare units are stocked in Berlin.
Can we keep using existing hardware?
Often yes. We check free of charge whether your existing displays can be integrated into our CMS. If they can, you save the hardware investment — if not, we say so directly.
Do the displays switch off at night?
Yes, via night mode. The surface goes off at closing time and back on in the morning without anyone having to remember. That lowers electricity costs and extends the life of the panels.
What happens after the warranty expires?
Maintenance continues regardless of the warranty. We keep models available long enough that an installation stays consistent over the years — nothing looks worse than a wall with one visibly newer panel.
